Recipe: Blackberry Spritz Mocktail
Share
Hi, friends!
As I was walking our two dogs this morning, I was daydreaming about a mocktail I had made earlier in the spring. So I went back through my photos (do you do this too?!) to try and find the drink I made in order to recreate it tonight. After a few photographic detours…
Voilà! The recipe is below. It’s a little tart, a little moody in color, and just perfect for this time of year.
Blackberry Spritz
A deep, jewel-toned mocktail, finished with a scattering of our Rainbow blend dried petals.
Ingredients
- 1 cup fresh blackberries
- 2 tbsp honey or maple syrup
- 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 1 cup chilled sparkling water
- 2 large ice cubes
- 1 tsp Bang & Bloom flower blend
Steps
- In a small bowl or shaker, muddle 1 cup fresh blackberries with 2 tbsp honey or maple syrup and 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice until the berries are fully broken down and juicy.
- Press the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve, using the back of a spoon to get every bit of juice. Discard the seeds (or snack on them!).
- Place one large ice cube in each coupe and divide the blackberry juice between the glasses.
- Slowly top each glass with 1 cup chilled sparkling water. Pour gently so it keeps its fizz.
- Scatter 1 tsp Bang & Bloom flower blend over the surface just before serving, so the petals float and keep their color.
*Notes*
Add our flower blend last. If they sit in the drink too long, they soften and their color starts to bleed. For a warmer autumnal version, I also like to add a sprig of thyme or rosemary while muddling.
To make this a proper cocktail, I’d recommend adding 1oz of your favorite gin to each of the drinks OR replace the sparkling water with your favorite prosecco - absolutely divine!
With gratitude,
Alexa
